Ohio CPA Experience Verification

Imagine this scenario:

You worked tirelessly to prepare for and pass your CPA exams. You logged countless late nights, strained your personal relationships, spent a ton of money on exam prep courses and the testing fees. But despite all the hardships, you passed all the tests! Now all you need to do is get your accounting work experience verified by a CPA familiar with your work. Then you can apply for your CPA license.

But wait. Who’s going to sign your experience verification form?

You did this all yourself, you don’t work for an accounting firm, and you don’t know any CPA’s. What’s worse? A lot of CPA’s “out in the wild” won’t even consider talking to you about the possibility of signing that form. I’ve personally heard lines ranging from, “we only promote our own,” to, “I can’t legally sign that.”

Despite what you might read on Reddit, no one has a legal obligation to sign your experience verification form. It’s a courtesy. So if your supervisor doesn’t want you to become a CPA, you’re literally just stuck.

Unlikely? Well, it happened to me. I’ll tell you the story over a Diet Mountain Dew someday…

So what do you do when you made it all the way to the finish line, but no one will let you cross? Talk to me.

It’s Time to Stop the Gatekeeping!

As a licensed CPA, I have the ability to verify a CPA candidate’s experience and sign their form so they can then go apply for their CPA license. Here’s what separates me from the rest: I have the desire to help CPA candidates cross this hurdle, and I actually want to get familiar with you!

The Licensing Process in Ohio

There are 3 ways to verify experience so that you can apply for a CPA license in the State of Ohio.
Here’s a brief summary, but for the exact rules, please visit the Accountancy Board of Ohio Site.

1) Your immediate supervisor, who IS a CPA, can sign the experience verification form.
2) Your immediate supervisor, who is NOT a CPA, must sign page 1 of the alternate exp. verification form, then an active CPA must sign page 2.
3) You were self-employed and did accounting. In this case, you need affidavits from your top 3 clients stating you did accounting and they are familiar with it. THEN you need the verification form signed by a CPA.

I can help with scenario #2.

Contact me via the form below and tell me about your history in accounting. If it sounds like something we can work with, I will contact you to setup some interviews. At a minimum, I will need to speak with and verify your supervisor who signs the alternate form for CPA verification in Ohio.

How Does It Work & What Does It Cost?

I will verify your experience for a one-time fee of $195.00.

First, this service assumes that you have completed all of your CPA exams and that you have met the education requirements set by Ohio. This service requires you to be at the step in the application process where you are submitting your accounting experience form to the Ohio Accountancy Board.

I will conduct thorough interviews with all parties involved to verify that you have the experience required to apply for the CPA license in Ohio. This includes talking directly with you, your immediate supervisors, and anyone who might be familiar with your work.

I will also review your documentation to help make sure you haven’t forgotten any last minute details.

Records of interviews and copies of documents will be stored as dictated by Ohio law.

Once I consider myself familiar with you and your work, and I have determined you have the experience required to apply for the CPA license in Ohio, I will sign your experience verification form via option #2 described above.

Caveats

1) You are paying for my time, not my signature.

2) This service DOES NOT guarantee that your application will be accepted by the Accountancy Board of Ohio.

3) This service DOES NOT guarantee that I will agree that you have the experience required for licensure.

4) If for any reason I am unable to complete verification, you will receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee.

5) This is only valid for candidates applying for CPA licensure in Ohio. No other states or countries accepted.
